About the RC1802 UI PCB

RC1802 UI is an open source PCB design by tebl, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 99.1 × 80 mm, with 47 components from 30 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the 74LS04, 4050, 4013, 74LS10 and MC14495P1. By type, the board carries 12 switches, 7 ICs, 7 diodes, 7 capacitors, 5 connectors and 5 resistors.

It belongs with the displays & leds and retro computing designs in this gallery.

From the project

With the RC6502-project for making an Apple 1 replica done I wanted to do something different, so I started designing a simple version of the RCA 1802-based Cosmac ELF instead.

Of the two main modules needed for the RC1802 Cosmac ELF computer, this board contains all the switches you'll need to toggle in data untill you can toggle no more! Also includes the two seven segment displays used as user feedback and output.

Some vendors will have the same ICs in different form factors, the ones you want will often be specified as being in the form of a DIP/PDIP package. Usually you'll want sockets for each of the ICs as well, a bag of assorted sockets should be easily available without setting you back more than a couple bucks. With the sockets in place, you don't need to…
