About the Ground receiver PCB

Ground receiver is an open source NXP PCB design by Terrapin-Rocket-Team, published on GitHub. It is a 4-layer board measuring 61.6 × 92.3 mm, with 56 components from 41 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the Teensy_4.1_Compact, from the NXP family. Other key parts include the LT8609AEDDM-5#TRPBF, FT234XD, SAM-M10Q-00B and TPS62A03DRLR. By type, the board carries 19 resistors, 13 connectors, 11 capacitors, 5 LEDs, 4 ICs and 2 inductors.

From the project

Code and PCBs for the avionics subteam for the SRAD flight computer and side projects

The avionics subteam manages this repo, as well as the Multi-Mission-Flight-Software and Ground Station repositories. Look at the Issues tab for tasks that need to be done, and the Projects tab for the current status of the Avionics subteam as a whole.

Most of our development for our competition rocket systems will be within the /Spaceport/ directory. Here, the parts are broken up by whether they are hardware, PCBs, or code.

Ground receiver: common questions

What microcontroller does the Ground receiver use?

The Ground receiver is built around the Teensy_4.1_Compact, from the NXP family.

How big is the Ground receiver PCB?

The Ground receiver measures 61.6 × 92.3 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Ground receiver?

56 components, from 41 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Ground receiver design files?

From the Terrapin-Rocket-Team/SRAD-Avionics repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Ground receiver design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with Terrapin-Rocket-Team. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Ground receiver without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug NXP firmware against it before you order a PCB.
