About the Doorbell sensor PCB
Doorbell sensor is an open source ESP8266 PCB design by thorio, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 41.9 × 38.1 mm, with 14 components from 11 distinct parts.
Its main chip is the ESP-01S, from the ESP8266 family. Other key parts include the PC817 and AMS1117-3.3. By type, the board carries 5 capacitors, 3 ICs, 3 resistors and 2 connectors.
It belongs with the iot & wireless and sensors designs in this gallery.

This board is meant to go inside your doorbell/intercom (the old-school ones with a phone) and detect when the doorbell rings. It uses an optocoupler to minimize modification to the existing electronics.
For now, I can't recommend using this with the ESP-01S as I've had connectivity issues. I might redesign it to use an ESP-12F module in the future though.
No CAD drawings for this one, I just designed a super simple mounting plate that I glued to the intercom housing and seem to have deleted it afterwards.

Doorbell sensor: common questions
What microcontroller does the Doorbell sensor use?
The Doorbell sensor is built around the ESP-01S, from the ESP8266 family.
How big is the Doorbell sensor PCB?
The Doorbell sensor measures 41.9 × 38.1 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the Doorbell sensor?
14 components, from 11 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the Doorbell sensor design files?
From the thorio/esphome-projects repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the Doorbell sensor design in my own project?
Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which thorio chose for the repository.
Can I test firmware for the Doorbell sensor without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP8266 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
