About the Apple2-IO-RPi PCB
Apple2-IO-RPi is an open source Raspberry Pi PCB design by tjboldt, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 89.5 × 77.5 mm, with 24 components from 13 distinct parts.
Its main chip is the Raspberry_Pi_2_3, from the Raspberry Pi family. Other key parts include the 74LS245, AT28C64B, 74LS00, 74LS32 and 74LVC245. By type, the board carries 9 ICs, 9 capacitors, 3 jumpers and 2 connectors.

Apple II expansion card using a Raspberry Pi for I/O
The card enables the Apple II to boot from and write to virtual hard drive images stored on the RPi in any slot (except slot 3), execute Linux commands from Applesoft BASIC and run a bash shell with VT100 emulation. The code has very few tests and is incomplete. Note that currently the firmware assumes an 80 column card is in slot 3 and than you have lowercase support. Most development has been done with an enhanced Apple //e with the card in slot 7. If you have other drive controllers earlier in the boot cycle, you can still boot from the Apple2-IO-RPi. For example, if the card was in slot…

Apple2-IO-RPi: common questions
What microcontroller does the Apple2-IO-RPi use?
The Apple2-IO-RPi is built around the Raspberry_Pi_2_3, from the Raspberry Pi family.
How big is the Apple2-IO-RPi PCB?
The Apple2-IO-RPi measures 89.5 × 77.5 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the Apple2-IO-RPi?
24 components, from 13 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the Apple2-IO-RPi design files?
From the tjboldt/Apple2-IO-RPi repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the Apple2-IO-RPi design in my own project?
Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which tjboldt chose for the repository.
Can I test firmware for the Apple2-IO-RPi without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug Raspberry Pi firmware against it before you order a PCB.
