About the Rudolph Tracker PCB

Rudolph Tracker is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by UMDBPP, published on GitHub. It is a 4-layer board measuring 45.6 × 25 mm, with 55 components from 32 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the W25Q128JVS, MS5607-02BA and DRF1262TL. By type, the board carries 19 capacitors, 16 resistors, 5 ICs, 5 connectors, 3 diodes and 2 crystals.

It belongs with the rf & radio designs in this gallery.

From the project

2nd version of a LoRa tracker now using a +30dBm radio coupled with a MIA-M10 for proper tracking.

The system is split into two boards. The primary "logic" board contains the embedded and RF devices. The PowerPack contains all of the necessary circuitry to switch between USB and Battery power sources as well as produce +5V and +3.3V filtered supply rails.

Rudolph Tracker: common questions

What microcontroller does the Rudolph Tracker use?

The Rudolph Tracker is built around the RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Rudolph Tracker PCB?

The Rudolph Tracker measures 45.6 × 25 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Rudolph Tracker?

55 components, from 32 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Rudolph Tracker design files?

From the UMDBPP/Rudolph repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Rudolph Tracker design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with UMDBPP. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Rudolph Tracker without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
