About the Node v5 0 0 PCB

Node v5 0 0 is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by VTC-WISDOM, published on GitHub under the CERN-OHL-W-2.0 license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 45.7 × 76.2 mm, with 95 components from 44 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the W25Q128JVS, AP2112K-3.3, CAT3200-5, MCP73831-2-OT and RFM69HCW. By type, the board carries 46 capacitors, 19 resistors, 13 ICs, 8 connectors, 3 diodes and 2 transistors.

It belongs with the rf & radio designs in this gallery.

From the project

Schematic/PCB designs for WiSDOM nodes, also includes a few other related hardware projects

changes: - removed 5v regulator - changed rp2040 xtal to the recommended part due to availability - changed the sim card slot due to availability - reviewed other parts and made changes to ensure full availability from both JLC and Digikey - changed footprints over to JLC library footprints - major layout changes- pin headers now broken out in two halves, etc - look at the pcb for a full description - removed jst connectors (evil) and replaced them with barrel jacks - mounting holes now m2.5 instead of m2

Node v5 0 0: common questions

What microcontroller does the Node v5 0 0 use?

The Node v5 0 0 is built around the RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Node v5 0 0 PCB?

The Node v5 0 0 measures 45.7 × 76.2 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Node v5 0 0?

95 components, from 44 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Node v5 0 0 design files?

From the VTC-WISDOM/node_hardware repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Node v5 0 0 design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-W-2.0 license, which VTC-WISDOM chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Node v5 0 0 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
