The related publication focuses mainly on the Synchronisation Wand device and hardware design. The final report is complementary and covers the verification platform, encoded EMP synchronisation verification, data processing workflow, and analysis in more detail. The presentation poster is a concise visual summary of the verification work.

The device includes an OLED display and 4 configuable push buttons for user interface to enhance the usability of the system. The device uses SD card as storage medium to store the synchronising data and onboard IMU data. WiFi is used to synchronise the…

Synchronisation-Wand: common questions

What microcontroller does the Synchronisation-Wand use?

The Synchronisation-Wand is built around the ESP32-S3, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the Synchronisation-Wand PCB?

The Synchronisation-Wand measures 80 × 35 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6162 mm thick.

How many components are on the Synchronisation-Wand?

90 components, from 40 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Synchronisation-Wand design files?

From the YuxuanHan0326/Synchronisation-Wand repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Synchronisation-Wand design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its Apache-2.0 license, which YuxuanHan0326 chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Synchronisation-Wand without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
