Room for two capacitors. They lie flat on the back, wired in parallel. USB-C charging, with a red "charging" and a green "full" LED. A socket for an OLED or colour TFT module. The microcontroller reads the capacitor's charge and can show it on the screen. An RP2040 microcontroller with 16 MB of flash for code, sounds and pictures. A speaker amplifier**, two buttons, a user LED, a wake-up clock and an expansion header for LEDs, buttons and a lid switch.

Trinketcore: common questions

What microcontroller does the Trinketcore use?

The Trinketcore is built around the RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Trinketcore PCB?

The Trinketcore measures 40 × 60 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Trinketcore?

106 components, from 48 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Trinketcore design files?

From the alph4345/test repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Trinketcore design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with alph4345. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Trinketcore without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
