About the Noggin g0b1ke PCB

Noggin g0b1ke is an open source STM32 PCB design by berkeleyauv, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 64.3 × 24 mm, with 21 components from 13 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32G0B1KxTxN, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the TCAN330G. By type, the board carries 7 capacitors, 3 connectors, 3 switches, 3 resistors, 2 ICs and 2 fuses.

It belongs with the robotics & motion designs in this gallery.

PCB designs for Underwater Robotics at Berkeley (UR@B)

STM32G0B1KET6N-based NOGGIN containing minimum components for debug and communication with the rest of the vehicle.

The STM32G0B1KxTxN should be drop-in compatible in case of component shortage. The STM32G0B1KxTx also works but CAN pins need to be changed.

Noggin g0b1ke: common questions

What microcontroller does the Noggin g0b1ke use?

The Noggin g0b1ke is built around the STM32G0B1KxTxN, from the STM32 family.

How big is the Noggin g0b1ke PCB?

The Noggin g0b1ke measures 64.3 × 24 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Noggin g0b1ke?

21 components, from 13 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Noggin g0b1ke design files?

From the berkeleyauv/RoboSub_HW repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Noggin g0b1ke design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which berkeleyauv chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Noggin g0b1ke without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
