About the Micro mp PCB

Micro mp is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by c04022004, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 100 × 40 mm, with 47 components from 27 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ProMicro, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the MAX485E, CP2102-GMR_NRND, AT24CS01-SSHM and PCF8574. By type, the board carries 12 connectors, 11 resistors, 7 switches, 6 capacitors, 5 ICs and 5 diodes.

It belongs with the dev boards & breakouts, displays & leds and usb & debug tools designs in this gallery.

Arduino Micro Shield with additional peripherals

This is an attempt stuff functionalities onto an ATmega32U4-based board while keeping a moderate footprint and simple low-cost parts. The original version is made out of the necessity to replace dupont(jumper) wires for stability. The board gradually expanded into the current form. This is also my first few PCBs, so expect it to be less than optimal. I learnt a lot going through the design, soldering, debug process and enjoyed working on it.

Micro mp: common questions

What microcontroller does the Micro mp use?

The Micro mp is built around the ProMicro, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Micro mp PCB?

The Micro mp measures 100 × 40 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Micro mp?

47 components, from 27 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Micro mp design files?

From the c04022004/micro-mp repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Micro mp design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with c04022004. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Micro mp without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
