About the Berryboard PCB

Berryboard is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by curtisgalloway, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 56 × 65 mm, with 58 components from 41 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RP2350B, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the TPS2121, AP2112K-3.3, ICM-42688-P, MMC5983MA and 24LC32. By type, the board carries 16 connectors, 15 capacitors, 12 resistors, 7 ICs, 2 diodes and 1 crystal.

It belongs with the sensors and dev boards & breakouts designs in this gallery.

From the project

Custom ROV control HAT for Raspberry Pi 4/5 with RP2350B MCU

A Raspberry Pi HAT+ for ROV (remotely operated vehicle) control, with an RP2350B co-processor for hard real-time servo and sensor management.

Berryboard sits on top of a Raspberry Pi 4 or 5 and handles the latency-sensitive workload that the Linux kernel can't guarantee: PWM servo output, sensor polling, and leak detection. The RPi handles high-level control logic over UART; the RP2350B handles everything that needs deterministic timing.

Berryboard: common questions

What microcontroller does the Berryboard use?

The Berryboard is built around the RP2350B, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Berryboard PCB?

The Berryboard measures 56 × 65 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Berryboard?

58 components, from 41 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Berryboard design files?

From the curtisgalloway/berryboard repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Berryboard design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with curtisgalloway. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Berryboard without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
