About the Bx tacho PCB

Bx tacho is an open source ESP32 PCB design by dazchi, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 56 × 28 mm, with 49 components from 29 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-C3-WROOM-02, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the TP4054, LMV331IDBVR and HS96L03W2C03. By type, the board carries 21 resistors, 12 capacitors, 4 ICs, 3 switches, 2 connectors and 2 diodes.

It belongs with the iot & wireless, displays & leds and sensors designs in this gallery.

From the project

Open DIY Beyblade X launcher RPM meter: ESP32-C3 with IR sensors and an OLED, Bluetooth (Battle Pass protocol), and a browser app for shot data and firmware updates. KiCad hardware, ESP-IDF firmware, 3D-printed case.

An open, DIY launch RPM meter for Beyblade X launchers. It clips onto the back of the launcher, reads the launcher's spinning black/white pattern with an IR sensor, and shows the launch RPM on a small OLED.

Web app: dazchi.github.io/bx-tacho (Chrome or Edge on a computer, Chrome on Android)

- Measures launch RPM optically, up to about 20,000 RPM, and shows the result and the peak on the display. - Senses when a Bey is loaded and when it's released, so each shot is recorded automatically: no buttons to press. - Keeps a shot history: the last 50 shots, the total count, the best shot and the…

Bx tacho: common questions

What microcontroller does the Bx tacho use?

The Bx tacho is built around the ESP32-C3-WROOM-02, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the Bx tacho PCB?

The Bx tacho measures 56 × 28 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6062 mm thick.

How many components are on the Bx tacho?

49 components, from 29 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Bx tacho design files?

From the dazchi/bx-tacho repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Bx tacho design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which dazchi chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Bx tacho without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
