About the SIMM72BL PCB

SIMM72BL is an open source PCB design by demik, published on GitHub under the CERN-OHL-P-2.0 license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 108 × 35.8 mm, with 133 components from 11 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the SIMM-72 and 74HC14. By type, the board carries 55 resistors, 54 diodes, 13 capacitors, 10 ICs and 1 connector.

It belongs with the retro computing designs in this gallery.

From the project

Development ressources for Old World Macintosh (68k and NuBus PPC) and a few related things…

This is an interposer 72 pins memory SIMM tool for troubleshooting purposes. It was created to debug stuck lines on a memory controller, but you can probably use it to debug some bad memory chips as well

The top of the board has pads for probing, and you can solder an inline SIMM socket here as well. Each line has its on activity LED

This has been designed to use only basic components, and can be build by your favorite PCBA service. The corrected bom + position files for JLCPCB assembly are avaiable inside the SMT subdirectory. You will still need to buy the SIMM connector if you want to…

SIMM72BL: common questions

How big is the SIMM72BL PCB?

The SIMM72BL measures 108 × 35.8 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.2 mm thick.

How many components are on the SIMM72BL?

133 components, from 11 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the SIMM72BL design files?

From the demik/oldworld repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the SIMM72BL design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-P-2.0 license, which demik chose for the repository.
