About the PICDB PCB

PICDB is an open source PCB design by demik, published on GitHub under the CERN-OHL-P-2.0 license. It is a 2-layer board, with 33 components from 23 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the LF347, OPA1688, Z8530, 7400 and 74LS244. By type, the board carries 10 ICs, 7 resistors, 6 capacitors, 5 test points, 4 connectors and 1 crystal.

It belongs with the retro computing designs in this gallery.

From the project

Development ressources for Old World Macintosh (68k and NuBus PPC) and a few related things…

This is a documentation project for creating a development board for Apple IOP/PIC coprocessor that was used in the IIfx, Quadra 900/950 and some LaserWriters

The PIC is VLSI of a 65C02 processor with additional glue logic and probably more advanced stuff like a DMA controller. On a real Mac, its code is uploaded at boot. On a LaserWriter, it's different, the PIC boots from its own ROM, which is interesting for reverse purposes. The PIC has usually the following part numbers: - 344S1021-A - NCR0381232

PICDB: common questions

How big is the PICDB PCB?

The PICDB has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the PICDB?

33 components, from 23 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the PICDB design files?

From the demik/oldworld repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the PICDB design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-P-2.0 license, which demik chose for the repository.
