About the UPIC46 PCB

UPIC46 is an open source PIC PCB design by emertcakir, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 66.6 × 41.3 mm, with 90 components from 39 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the PIC18F46K22-I/PT, from the PIC family. Other key parts include the TPD2E2U06DCK, 24LC256, FT231XQ-R, AMS1117-3.3 and MCP2515-xST. By type, the board carries 31 capacitors, 30 resistors, 9 ICs, 8 diodes, 7 connectors and 2 inductors.

It belongs with the dev boards & breakouts designs in this gallery.

From the project

PIC18F46K22-based versatile development board with CAN, RS-485, EEPROM, RTC, and user LEDs

The uPIC46 is a development board designed around the Microchip PIC18F46K22-I/PT microcontroller. It is intended for hobbyists, students, and professionals who want a versatile platform for learning, prototyping, and industrial communication testing.

CRITICAL WARNING: This PCB design is currently an experimental, unverified prototype (AS-IS). I have not yet manufactured or functionally tested this version. Proceeding with production carries a high risk of failure and is undertaken solely at your own risk.

UPIC46: common questions

What microcontroller does the UPIC46 use?

The UPIC46 is built around the PIC18F46K22-I/PT, from the PIC family.

How big is the UPIC46 PCB?

The UPIC46 measures 66.6 × 41.3 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the UPIC46?

90 components, from 39 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the UPIC46 design files?

From the emertcakir/uPIC46 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the UPIC46 design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which emertcakir chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the UPIC46 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug PIC firmware against it before you order a PCB.
