About the Dual button doorbell PCB

Dual button doorbell is an open source ESP32 PCB design by espena, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 68.6 × 68.6 mm, with 79 components from 38 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-WROVER-B, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the NCP1117-5v, MAX98357A, NCP1117-3v3, DS3231M and MAX3232. By type, the board carries 26 resistors, 22 capacitors, 12 diodes, 7 ICs, 6 connectors and 2 switches.

It belongs with the iot & wireless and audio designs in this gallery.

From the project

ESP32 driven, WiFi-enabled dual-button doorbell with custom audio signals and real-time red/green indicators.

A door bell that simply does more. Configurable with alarms, different sounds for the two buttons, bedtime LED indicator and timed notifications on specific days / hours. With audible 4Ω loudspeaker driven by a class D 3.2 W amplifier.

The project is described on my home page.

- Two-button interface with led indicators - Personalized doorbell sound from custom wav files - Cron calendar for scheduling sounds down to one second resolution - SD card support for storing audio files and configuration - WiFi interface with integrated antenna - MQTT support for smart home integration and push…

Dual button doorbell: common questions

What microcontroller does the Dual button doorbell use?

The Dual button doorbell is built around the ESP32-WROVER-B, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the Dual button doorbell PCB?

The Dual button doorbell measures 68.6 × 68.6 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Dual button doorbell?

79 components, from 38 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Dual button doorbell design files?

From the espena/dual-button-doorbell repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Dual button doorbell design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which espena chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Dual button doorbell without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
