A secure hardware vault for storing TOTP codes for two-factor authentication

TOTPVault is a secure hardware vault for storing TOTP codes for two-factor authentication. It is compatible with websites and applications which support authenticators such as Google Authenticator or Authy.

TOTPVault uses an RISC-V ESP32-C3 microcontroller to perform cryptographic operations and storage/generation of TOTP codes with a separate chip to run an isolated USB stack.

Usba connector: common questions

What microcontroller does the Usba connector use?

The Usba connector is built around the ESP32-C3, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the Usba connector PCB?

The Usba connector measures 17.1 × 37.8 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Usba connector?

30 components, from 17 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Usba connector design files?

From the gfoudree/TOTPVault repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Usba connector design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which gfoudree chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Usba connector without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
