About the Isc motorbeep PCB

Isc motorbeep is an open source ESP32 PCB design by ISC-HEI, published on GitHub. It is a 4-layer board measuring 70 × 50 mm, with 69 components from 37 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-WROOM-32E, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the USBLC6-2SC6, TPS63001, CP2102N, STSPIN220 and MAX98357A. By type, the board carries 28 resistors, 18 capacitors, 7 ICs, 5 connectors, 3 transistors and 3 switches.

It belongs with the audio, robotics & motion and power & battery designs in this gallery.

From the project

ESP32 board driving two bipolar stepper motors and a speaker from 3x AA cells — a complete KiCad 9 schematic authored headlessly via MCP. ERC-clean, netlist-asserted, priced BOM.

A complete KiCad 9 schematic for an ESP32 board driving two bipolar stepper motors and a small speaker, powered from 3× AA cells. It is an improved derivative of the ESP32 DevKit DOIT v1: the AMS1117 LDO, the thin bulk capacitance, the micro-USB connector and the absent battery sensing are all addressed.

Take the ESP32 DevKit DOIT v1 as the reference design and produce an improved version of it that drives two stepper motors and a small speaker, running off AA cells — originally two, changed to three during the work. Deliver the complete schematic in KiCad (installing it as needed), authored…

Isc motorbeep: common questions

What microcontroller does the Isc motorbeep use?

The Isc motorbeep is built around the ESP32-WROOM-32E, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the Isc motorbeep PCB?

The Isc motorbeep measures 70 × 50 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Isc motorbeep?

69 components, from 37 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Isc motorbeep design files?

From the ISC-HEI/isc-motorbeep repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Isc motorbeep design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with ISC-HEI. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Isc motorbeep without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
