Smu main 1: common questions

What microcontroller does the Smu main 1 use?

The Smu main 1 is built around the ATmega8535-16JU, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Smu main 1 PCB?

The Smu main 1 measures 130 × 80 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Smu main 1?

206 components, from 77 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Smu main 1 design files?

From the jaromir-sukuba/J-SMU repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Smu main 1 design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with jaromir-sukuba. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Smu main 1 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
