About the -NRF LoRa PCB

-NRF LoRa is an open source Nordic nRF PCB design by JBeeBK, published on GitHub. It is a 4-layer board measuring 60 × 45 mm, with 78 components from 51 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the nRF52840-QFAA, from the Nordic nRF family. Other key parts include the MAX17048G+T10, E22-900M22S, TPS2116DRLR, MIC5219-3.3YM5 and USBLC6-2SC6. By type, the board carries 29 capacitors, 20 resistors, 8 ICs, 7 diodes, 6 connectors and 5 inductors.

It belongs with the rf & radio, power & battery and keyboards designs in this gallery.

From the project

868Mhz LoRa board with USB/Battery Power. MCU is nRF52840 and some IO to add screen and keyboard.

PCB design for a Nordic nRF52840 (QFN48) with SX1262 LoRa module. Designed as a low-power mesh node for experimentation and LoRaWan or Meshtastic development.

This repo documents the hardware design; firmware will be added once the board is fabricated.

The KiCad project lives in the JBeeBK/-NRF_LoRa repository on GitHub; these links point at the commit this page was built from.

-NRF LoRa: common questions

What microcontroller does the -NRF LoRa use?

The -NRF LoRa is built around the nRF52840-QFAA, from the Nordic nRF family.

How big is the -NRF LoRa PCB?

The -NRF LoRa measures 60 × 45 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the -NRF LoRa?

78 components, from 51 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the -NRF LoRa design files?

From the JBeeBK/-NRF_LoRa repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the -NRF LoRa design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with JBeeBK. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the -NRF LoRa without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug Nordic nRF firmware against it before you order a PCB.
