A Low Cost IoT system for Non-Invasive Glucose Visualisation
A CircuitPython glucose monitoring display that fetches readings from the Dexcom Share API and shows them on a colour LCD. Plays audio alarms and flashes an LED when glucose goes out of range.
GlucoBit is a standalone glucose visualisation and alert device. The product aims to solve some of the daily issues faced by Type 1 Diabetics. At present, CGMs (Continuous Glucose Monitors) send glucose data to a smartphone, where the user can access their current levels and receive alerts for low and high blood sugar events, however, missed hypoglycemic alarms, alarm fatigue, and an over-reliance on…

GlucoBit: common questions
What microcontroller does the GlucoBit use?
The GlucoBit is built around the ESP32-S3-WROOM-1-N8, from the ESP32 family.
How big is the GlucoBit PCB?
The GlucoBit measures 55 × 30.4 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the GlucoBit?
43 components, from 29 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the GlucoBit design files?
From the jdharcourt/GlucoBit repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the GlucoBit design in my own project?
The repository has no license, so all rights stay with jdharcourt. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
Can I test firmware for the GlucoBit without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
