About the Wave Folder PCB

Wave Folder is an open source STM32 PCB design by JordanAceto, published on GitHub under the CC-BY-4.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 99.1 × 99.1 mm, with 91 components from 42 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32F405RGT6, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the AMS1117-3.3, TL072 and AD534. By type, the board carries 37 resistors, 21 diodes, 18 capacitors, 5 ICs and 4 connectors.

It belongs with the audio designs in this gallery.

modular analog synthesizer for a.p.

The wavefolder is a unique waveshaping circuit that creates "folded" versions of sloping input waveforms.

CV inputs for folds, shape, and offset are included.

A bonus ring-modulator circuit is included, to maintain compatability with the old module.

Wave Folder: common questions

What microcontroller does the Wave Folder use?

The Wave Folder is built around the STM32F405RGT6, from the STM32 family.

How big is the Wave Folder PCB?

The Wave Folder measures 99.1 × 99.1 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Wave Folder?

91 components, from 42 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Wave Folder design files?

From the JordanAceto/angelo_modular repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Wave Folder design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CC-BY-4.0 license, which JordanAceto chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Wave Folder without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
