About the Sub Oscillator PCB

Sub Oscillator is an open source STM32 PCB design by JordanAceto, published on GitHub under the CC-BY-4.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 39.4 × 78.7 mm, with 84 components from 35 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32F405RGT6, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the AMS1117-3.3, TL072, 40106 and 4013. By type, the board carries 43 resistors, 18 capacitors, 10 ICs, 7 connectors and 4 transistors.

It belongs with the audio designs in this gallery.

modular analog synthesizer for a.p.

Small aux waveshaper pcb intended to be used with the oscillator carrier boards.

Contains two sub-oscillator circuits cascaded in series, for -1 octave and -2 octaves. Triangle, sawtooth, and variable width pulse waves are available for all octaves.

Sub Oscillator: common questions

What microcontroller does the Sub Oscillator use?

The Sub Oscillator is built around the STM32F405RGT6, from the STM32 family.

How big is the Sub Oscillator PCB?

The Sub Oscillator measures 39.4 × 78.7 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Sub Oscillator?

84 components, from 35 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Sub Oscillator design files?

From the JordanAceto/angelo_modular repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Sub Oscillator design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CC-BY-4.0 license, which JordanAceto chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Sub Oscillator without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
