USB nixie tube numeric display

nixiedisp - USB nixie tube display ==================================

Nixiedisp is a 6-digit nixie tube numeric display, software-controlled over USB or RS232, that also functions standalone as a clock.

Features: - Controlled over USB or RS232 serial port to display arbitrary numbers, set the time/date, change settings, and switch between modes of operation. - Standalone operation as a clock or stopwatch timer with a battery-backed real-time clock (CR2032 coin cell). - Designed to use soviet IN-14 nixie tubes. - Powered by a 12v DC supply through a standard 2mm barrel jack (center-positive).

Nixiedisp: common questions

What microcontroller does the Nixiedisp use?

The Nixiedisp is built around the ATMEGA328PB-AU, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Nixiedisp PCB?

The Nixiedisp measures 140 × 76.1 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Nixiedisp?

224 components, from 45 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Nixiedisp design files?

From the jtsiomb/nixiedisp repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Nixiedisp design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which jtsiomb chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Nixiedisp without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
