This repository contains NYU's implementation of the OpenPLC hardware. Several important modifications are included, notably, a socket for a second microcontroller (a Raspberry Pi Pico) which can act as a 'Hardware Trojan'. Different Hardware Trojan capabilities can be enabled and disabled depending on the configuration of a number of jumpers located around the PCB.

Nyu openplc te: common questions

What microcontroller does the Nyu openplc te use?

The Nyu openplc te is built around the raspberrypi-pico-module, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Nyu openplc te PCB?

The Nyu openplc te measures 155 × 108 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Nyu openplc te?

153 components, from 47 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Nyu openplc te design files?

From the kiwih/nyu-openplc-te repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Nyu openplc te design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which kiwih chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Nyu openplc te without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
