About the V2-4 piece modular vertical PCB

V2-4 piece modular vertical is an open source ESP32 PCB design by manyetox, published on GitHub under the CC-BY-NC-4.0 license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 25 × 27.1 mm, with 23 components from 17 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-WROOM-32UE, from the ESP32 family. By type, the board carries 8 capacitors, 7 resistors, 2 connectors, 2 switches, 1 IC and 1 LED.

It belongs with the sensors designs in this gallery.

From the project

Source-available modular mobile carrier for autonomous photonics experiments using ESP32 control, optical flow, IMU sensing and magnetic wheel encoding.

Platform: V2 Board revision: MB-R2.1 Status: validated; current PCB: 4 layers, approximately 25 × 27.1 mm

MB-R2.1 is the central controller and power/breakout board. It intentionally avoids embedding every sensor/actuator subsystem so that daughterboards can be changed independently.

V2-4 piece modular vertical: common questions

What microcontroller does the V2-4 piece modular vertical use?

The V2-4 piece modular vertical is built around the ESP32-WROOM-32UE, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the V2-4 piece modular vertical PCB?

The V2-4 piece modular vertical measures 25 × 27.1 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the V2-4 piece modular vertical?

23 components, from 17 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the V2-4 piece modular vertical design files?

From the manyetox/Autonomous-Photonics-Carrier repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the V2-4 piece modular vertical design in my own project?

It is published under CC-BY-NC-4.0, which limits how it may be reused; read the license before building on it.

Can I test firmware for the V2-4 piece modular vertical without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
