This repository ships a schematic but no board layout.

About the Base Project PCB

Base Project is an open source PCB design by MECSEM, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a 4-layer board, with 4 components from 2 distinct parts.

It belongs with the power & battery designs in this gallery.

From the project

All the electrical designs for MECSEM.

KiCad sources for all the PCBs in the microscope.

This repository contains only the electrical design: schematics, PCB layouts, and KiCad symbol/footprint library.

A Linux Mint host PC inside the chassis (powered by the in-chassis PicoPSU) commands two central RP2350 controllers over USB:

HV Controller: the master optics-column controller. Drives source bias, lenses, deflectors, the scintillator detector, raster scan, and the PMT readout. Bridges the floating cathode side onto USB. LV Controller: the vacuum subsystem state machine: roughing pump, turbopump VFD (RS-485), isolation valve…

Base Project: common questions

How big is the Base Project PCB?

The Base Project has 4 copper layers and is 1.6062 mm thick.

How many components are on the Base Project?

4 components, from 2 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Base Project design files?

From the MECSEM/electrical repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Base Project design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which MECSEM chose for the repository.
