About the Teensy4 header breakout

Teensy4 header breakout is an open source NXP PCB design by MUNAKATA-EPC, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 22.9 × 35.6 mm, with 3 components from 2 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the GND-1, from the NXP family. By type, the board carries 2 connectors and 1 IC.

It belongs with the dev boards & breakouts and iot & wireless designs in this gallery.

A breakout board for the PJRC.com Teensy 4.0 board that is soldered directly to the bottom of the Teensy board via castellated solder points and two parallel 2x14 0.1" headers for connection.

There are companion boards that can attach to the outside pins and provide:

- Micro SD Slot Sidecar - USB Host Sidecar - ESP32 WiFi & Bluetooth Sidecar

- If you need to cut the trace between VIN and VUSB, do it before attaching board. - You should be able to use one of these cables connected to pins 1-5 on the right side for a basic USB host connection (albeit without power management and protection).…

Teensy4 header breakout: common questions

What microcontroller does the Teensy4 header breakout use?

The Teensy4 header breakout is built around the GND-1, from the NXP family.

How big is the Teensy4 header breakout?

The Teensy4 header breakout measures 22.9 × 35.6 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Teensy4 header breakout?

3 components, from 2 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Teensy4 header breakout design files?

From the MUNAKATA-EPC/Artemis_2023 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Teensy4 header breakout design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with MUNAKATA-EPC. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Teensy4 header breakout without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug NXP firmware against it before you order a PCB.
