From the project

Rack mountable CM4 carrier board

HomeLabIO is a Compute Module 4/5 carrier board designed to fit in a 19" rack using 1U of space.

Power over Ethernet 802.3at (PoE+) TPM 2.0 (SLB9670) NVMe SSD up to 2280 HDMI USB-C UART communication on the front PWM fan

This is my first attempt at making a PCB and was largely a practical learning experience.

The schematic is heavily inspired by the Raspberry Pi CM4IO and the HomeAssistant Yellow.

Homelabio: common questions

What microcontroller does the Homelabio use?

The Homelabio is built around the DF40C-100DS-0.4V(51), from the Raspberry Pi family.

How big is the Homelabio PCB?

The Homelabio measures 230 × 42 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6062 mm thick.

How many components are on the Homelabio?

71 components, from 41 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Homelabio design files?

From the nrwiersma/homelabio repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Homelabio design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with nrwiersma. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Homelabio without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug Raspberry Pi firmware against it before you order a PCB.
