From the project

Modular learning system for radio electronics

Project Yamhill is the successor to the Willamette Transceiver, also known as the qrp-l Group Project. The purpose of this endeavor is to provide a platform to learn about radio electronics at a system level. Modules that correspond to the blocks of a block diagram will be the basis upon which different types of radio designs will be created. A modular 3D printed backplane will be the chassis, user interface, and power supply for the radio experiments. The desired goal is to have a high-performance CW QRP transceiver at the end of the main project run, however there would be the capacity to…

YamhillFrontPanel: common questions

What microcontroller does the YamhillFrontPanel use?

The YamhillFrontPanel is built around the Pico, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the YamhillFrontPanel PCB?

The YamhillFrontPanel measures 170 × 100 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the YamhillFrontPanel?

207 components, from 74 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the YamhillFrontPanel design files?

From the NT7S/Yamhill repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the YamhillFrontPanel design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with NT7S. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the YamhillFrontPanel without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
