About the PIOI I/O interface module

PIOI I/O interface module is an open source PCB design by pozsarzs, published on GitHub under the EUPL-1.2 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 238.5 × 59.7 mm, with 83 components from 20 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the 4N25, 74LS14 and 74LS05. By type, the board carries 26 resistors, 23 diodes, 10 connectors, 8 transistors, 6 ICs and 4 relays.

It belongs with the retro computing designs in this gallery.

From the project

8-bit microcomputer built from commercially available and home-built components

The PIOI is a combined interface module originally built for another device. It has 4 isolated 5..12V digital inputs, 4 open collector outputs and 4 NC/NO relay contact outputs. The module requires +5V DC to operate.

The color-coded connectors for the inputs and outputs and the LEDs with optical fiber are on the front panel. The color of the inputs is green, the color of the outputs is yellow, the GND is black. The ground of the inputs and the ground of the device are not connected.
