Hardware files for the Smoothieboard v2, and extension boards

Extension-board hardware includes independent Ccecil repositories pinned as Git submodules and legacy board designs copied from this repository's master:extensions tree, all under extension-boards/. Clone with --recurse-submodules to initialize the Ccecil boards, or initialize them in an existing clone with git submodule update --init --recursive. The legacy designs are ordinary tracked folders; their source revisions and folder mappings are documented in extension-boards/README.md.

V2 Core: common questions

What microcontroller does the V2 Core use?

The V2 Core is built around the STM32H745XIHx, from the STM32 family.

How big is the V2 Core PCB?

The V2 Core measures 90 × 110 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the V2 Core?

326 components, from 82 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the V2 Core design files?

From the Smoothieware/Smoothieboard2 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the V2 Core design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with Smoothieware. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the V2 Core without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
