About the Waveform Generator PCB

Waveform Generator is an open source STM32 PCB design by Synthron, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 160 × 100 mm, with 105 components from 49 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32F103C8Tx, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the AD9833xRM, OPA2196xD, LM7171xIM, VCA822 and AP1117-33. By type, the board carries 48 capacitors, 32 resistors, 8 ICs, 6 diodes, 4 connectors and 3 transistors.

It belongs with the audio and displays & leds designs in this gallery.

From the project

Modular Electronics Workstation

The ModLab is designed to be housed in a 19" Rack with 3U. It is the improved version of the (failed) Arduino Workstation I built a long time ago.

But now It will be bigger, better and way too complicated.

Waveform Generator: common questions

What microcontroller does the Waveform Generator use?

The Waveform Generator is built around the STM32F103C8Tx, from the STM32 family.

How big is the Waveform Generator PCB?

The Waveform Generator measures 160 × 100 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Waveform Generator?

105 components, from 49 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Waveform Generator design files?

From the Synthron/ModLab repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Waveform Generator design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with Synthron. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Waveform Generator without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
