About the Amiga Drawbridge PCB

Amiga Drawbridge is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by tebl, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 90 × 94 mm, with 18 components from 14 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the Arduino_Pro_Mini, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the FT232RL. By type, the board carries 6 modules, 4 connectors, 3 jumpers, 3 resistors and 2 diodes.

It belongs with the retro computing and usb & debug tools designs in this gallery.

From the project

A PCB build of Rob Smiths Amiga DrawBridge, an Arduino-based solution for reading and writing Amiga floppy disks on modern hardware. Also includes a version of Greaseweazle.

With the equipment sorted, now comes the shopping - so head on over to the BOM-section for some information on what kind of components that you'll need. Note that with sites such as ebay, AliExpress and similar sites that sell cheap chinese components, you'll need to treat these as a suggested search term and look for something that matches the gallery pictures.

Amiga Drawbridge: common questions

What microcontroller does the Amiga Drawbridge use?

The Amiga Drawbridge is built around the Arduino_Pro_Mini, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Amiga Drawbridge PCB?

The Amiga Drawbridge measures 90 × 94 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Amiga Drawbridge?

18 components, from 14 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Amiga Drawbridge design files?

From the tebl/Amiga-DrawBridge repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Amiga Drawbridge design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with tebl. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Amiga Drawbridge without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
