About the Ultimate temperature controller PCB

Ultimate temperature controller is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by Technariumas, published on GitHub under the Apache-2.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 80 × 100 mm, with 68 components from 36 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATMEGA328P-A, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the 7805, LD1117S12CTR, 4050, MAX31855KASA and SP3485CN. By type, the board carries 22 capacitors, 16 resistors, 11 connectors, 6 ICs, 4 transistors and 4 diodes.

It belongs with the sensors and displays & leds designs in this gallery.

From the project

Thermocouple based kiln/oven temperature controller accessable via RS485 or LCD/keypad. Supports temperature profiles on a SD card.

Features: Arduino compatible Thermocouple input via MAX31855 Output to LCD via I2C interface Relay output Open collector output RS485 interface 4 key keypad interface SD card

The device can act as a standalone controller or as a slave / master on RS485 network.

Standalone controller is equiped with a LCD screen, a keypad and a SD card. Files containing temperature profiles can be stored on the SD card. A profile can be selected using the menu system via keypad and LCD interface. PID controller runs on the microcontroller and ensures the precise temperature control.

Ultimate temperature controller: common questions

What microcontroller does the Ultimate temperature controller use?

The Ultimate temperature controller is built around the ATMEGA328P-A, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Ultimate temperature controller PCB?

The Ultimate temperature controller measures 80 × 100 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Ultimate temperature controller?

68 components, from 36 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Ultimate temperature controller design files?

From the Technariumas/ultimate-temperature-controller repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Ultimate temperature controller design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its Apache-2.0 license, which Technariumas chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Ultimate temperature controller without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
