About the Tk1 PCB

Tk1 is an open source FPGA PCB design by tillitis, published on GitHub under the CERN-OHL-S-2.0 license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 28.6 × 13.9 mm, with 46 components from 19 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ICE40UP5K-SG48ITR, from the FPGA family. Other key parts include the MCP1824T-2502EOT, MIC5258-1.2YM5, CH552E, USBLC6-2SC6 and W25Q80DVUXIE. By type, the board carries 19 capacitors, 15 resistors, 8 ICs, 2 diodes, 1 connector and 1 inductor.

PCB files for the open and flexible security key - TKey

This repository contains the PCB design and manufacturing files for the flexible Open Source security key, TKey (TK1).

This is part of a larger project that includes firmware and FPGA designs, which are housed at tillitis-key1.

For more general information about the TKey see, - www.tillitis.se - shop.tillitis.se - TKey Developer Handbook

The earlier version of TK1, such as the mta1-usb-v1 and mta1-usb-dev, that can be found under prototypes/ are kept for historical reasons. TK1 is the only version that is maintained and developed.

Tk1: common questions

What microcontroller does the Tk1 use?

The Tk1 is built around the ICE40UP5K-SG48ITR, from the FPGA family.

How big is the Tk1 PCB?

The Tk1 measures 28.6 × 13.9 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 0.8 mm thick.

How many components are on the Tk1?

46 components, from 19 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Tk1 design files?

From the tillitis/tk1-pcba repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Tk1 design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-S-2.0 license, which tillitis chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Tk1 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug FPGA firmware against it before you order a PCB.
