About the Revolute production PCB

Revolute production is an open source Nordic nRF PCB design by tongtongwang86, published on GitHub under the CC-BY-NC-4.0 license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 19.9 × 19.5 mm, with 59 components from 39 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the nrf52833_qfn40, from the Nordic nRF family. Other key parts include the BQ27427, AS5600, BQ24075RGT and MIC5504. By type, the board carries 24 capacitors, 12 resistors, 6 ICs, 5 transistors, 4 inductors and 2 crystals.

It belongs with the iot & wireless and power & battery designs in this gallery.

From the project

NRF52833 Based ScrollWheel Key

- Revolute currently simulate keyboard inputs, consumer controlls, mouse inputs.

- the actions and sensitivity of the wheel can be configured through the revolute configurator app that will be available for iOS, Macos and Windows devices that have bluetooth support.

- Configuratios done on revolute is persistently stored on device, which means that revolute can work on any device with Bluetooth and HID support.

Revolute production: common questions

What microcontroller does the Revolute production use?

The Revolute production is built around the nrf52833_qfn40, from the Nordic nRF family.

How big is the Revolute production PCB?

The Revolute production measures 19.9 × 19.5 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 0.7912 mm thick.

How many components are on the Revolute production?

59 components, from 39 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Revolute production design files?

From the tongtongwang86/Revolute repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Revolute production design in my own project?

It is published under CC-BY-NC-4.0, which limits how it may be reused; read the license before building on it.

Can I test firmware for the Revolute production without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug Nordic nRF firmware against it before you order a PCB.
