- Changed to nRF52840 BLE Radio Module - Using part number MDBT50Q-1MV2 from Raytac - Module requires bootloader, we use Adafruit Feather nRF52840 Express bootloader - Bootloading blank module proceedure see below - nRF52 does not support analog audio, but evidence exists that it can use I2S - I2S connections between Teensy 4.1 and nRF52 on I2S2 pins - UART coms with the BC127 were slower than desired - The SPI1 bus is connected to nRF module for higher speed - The UART pins are still connected and the default speed is now 115200 bps (instead of…

Tympan Rev F: common questions

What microcontroller does the Tympan Rev F use?

The Tympan Rev F is built around the MDBT50Q-1MV2, from the Nordic nRF family.

How big is the Tympan Rev F PCB?

The Tympan Rev F measures 38 × 74 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Tympan Rev F?

86 components, from 39 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Tympan Rev F design files?

From the Tympan/Tympan_Rev_F_Hardware repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Tympan Rev F design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-P-2.0 license, which Tympan chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Tympan Rev F without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug Nordic nRF firmware against it before you order a PCB.
