About the Pumper PCB

Pumper is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by wolf-yuan-6115, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 33.8 × 93.1 mm, with 90 components from 38 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RP2354A-QFN60, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the TLV76733DRVX, LM27762, ABM8-272-T3_C20625731, OPA1652AIDR and PCM5102A. By type, the board carries 45 capacitors, 24 resistors, 8 ICs, 5 diodes, 2 connectors and 2 switches.

It belongs with the audio designs in this gallery.

From the project

Pumper is an experimental RP2354-based USB Audio Class 2 DAC. The board uses a PCM5102A DAC with OPA1652 and OPA1622 analog stages in a compact design intended for learning about USB audio and DAC hardware.

Pumper is an experimental RP2354-based USB Audio Class 2 DAC. The board uses a PCM5102A DAC with OPA1652 and OPA1622 analog stages in a compact design intended for learning about USB audio and DAC hardware.

The firmware provides a ten-band parametric EQ, headphone crossfeed, output processing, USB host volume and mute, and persistent EQ profiles. Settings can be controlled from either the React WebHID controller or the native Android controller. Both controllers preview edits live and save persistent settings only through explicit save actions.

Pumper: common questions

What microcontroller does the Pumper use?

The Pumper is built around the RP2354A-QFN60, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Pumper PCB?

The Pumper measures 33.8 × 93.1 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Pumper?

90 components, from 38 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Pumper design files?

From the wolf-yuan-6115/lightwolf repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Pumper design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which wolf-yuan-6115 chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Pumper without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
