About the Feather PCB

Feather is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by wolf-yuan-6115, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 61.4 × 38.8 mm, with 137 components from 37 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RP2354A, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the TLV76733DRVX, LM27762, TAD5242IRGER, OPA1612AXD and OPA1622. By type, the board carries 55 resistors, 48 capacitors, 13 diodes, 11 ICs, 4 switches and 3 connectors.

It belongs with the dev boards & breakouts and audio designs in this gallery.

From the project

A USB DAC that provides even better audio quality compared to Pumper. Since I want to make the board as small as possible, the board itself is only 6x4 cm.

A USB DAC that provides even better audio quality compared to Pumper. Since I want to make the board as small as possible, the board itself is only 6x4 cm.

This board has two outputs: One is 3.5mm unbalanced output, another one is 4.4mm balanced, for headphone that supports this and it can provide more power through this port.

Due to being half Hi-Fi fan, I want to try out some new method to get better audio. Like previous project Pumper, already got amazing power to drive headphone. Though it has some flaw and I think it's got not very balanced sound profile.

Feather: common questions

What microcontroller does the Feather use?

The Feather is built around the RP2354A, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Feather PCB?

The Feather measures 61.4 × 38.8 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Feather?

137 components, from 37 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Feather design files?

From the wolf-yuan-6115/lightwolf repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Feather design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which wolf-yuan-6115 chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Feather without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
