About the IDM-RoomSensor-ESP PCB

IDM-RoomSensor-ESP is an open source ESP32 PCB design by Xerolux, published on GitHub under the CERN-OHL-S-2.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 58 × 38 mm, with 6 components from 6 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the AP2112K-3.3TRG1, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the LMR36510ADDAR, ESP32-C6-WROOM-1-N16 and SHT45-AD1B-R2. By type, the board carries 4 ICs and 1 connector.

It belongs with the sensors designs in this gallery.

The symmetric 2x4 connector is electrically safe after 180-degree rotation and each module has its own 3.3 V regulator.

IDM-RoomSensor-ESP: common questions

What microcontroller does the IDM-RoomSensor-ESP use?

The IDM-RoomSensor-ESP is built around the AP2112K-3.3TRG1, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the IDM-RoomSensor-ESP PCB?

The IDM-RoomSensor-ESP measures 58 × 38 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the IDM-RoomSensor-ESP?

6 components, from 6 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the IDM-RoomSensor-ESP design files?

From the Xerolux/IDM-Smart-Climate-Platform repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the IDM-RoomSensor-ESP design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-S-2.0 license, which Xerolux chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the IDM-RoomSensor-ESP without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
