About the Main board

Main board is an open source ESP32 PCB design by card-io-ecg, published on GitHub. It is a 4-layer board measuring 85 × 55 mm, with 51 components from 36 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-S3, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the SSD1306, TLV62568PDRLT, MCP73832, DW01 and 8205A. By type, the board carries 20 capacitors, 17 resistors, 7 ICs, 1 module, 1 transistor and 1 crystal.

From the project

Card/IO open source ECG hardware design

Card/IO is an open source, single lead ECG in a business card-like format.

The project contains two PCB designs, created using KiCAD 7:

- main_board: main/carrier board, which is a 4 layer PCB containing the MCU, display, battery and related circuitry - frontend: the ECG frontend, ADC, and touch detection/wakeup generator, implemented as a solder-on daughter board

Main board: common questions

What microcontroller does the Main board use?

The Main board is built around the ESP32-S3, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the Main board?

The Main board measures 85 × 55 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 0.8 mm thick.

How many components are on the Main board?

51 components, from 36 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Main board design files?

From the card-io-ecg/card-io-hw repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Main board design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with card-io-ecg. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Main board without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
