About the Regulator-5v PCB

Regulator-5v is an open source PCB design by carr-james, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board, with 9 components from 5 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the LP2950-5.0. By type, the board carries 5 capacitors, 2 diodes, 1 IC and 1 resistor.

It belongs with the audio designs in this gallery.

From the project

Reusable Eurorack circuit blocks (KiCad 10 design blocks) and house design rules

Makes a +5V logic rail from +12VA, and holds it down when a jack pushes current back into it.

U1 regulates +12VA to +5V. C1 and C2 hold the input and output. C3 handles high frequency. R1 keeps a minimum load on the rail. D1 clamps the rail if something pushes it above +5.6V.

The Eurorack bus header carries no +5V, so any module with CMOS logic needs this block.

Regulator-5v: common questions

How big is the Regulator-5v PCB?

The Regulator-5v has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Regulator-5v?

9 components, from 5 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Regulator-5v design files?

From the carr-james/eurorack-blocks repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Regulator-5v design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with carr-james. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
