About the Arc PCB

Arc is an open source Nordic nRF PCB design by DynamicWhiteHat, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 326.6 × 123.8 mm, with 415 components from 40 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the NRF52840_HOLYIOT_18010, from the Nordic nRF family. Other key parts include the BQ24075RGT, XC6206PXXXMR, MAX17048 and USBLC6-2P6. By type, the board carries 108 capacitors, 100 diodes, 84 LEDs, 18 resistors, 6 connectors and 6 switches.

It belongs with the iot & wireless, keyboards and displays & leds designs in this gallery.

From the project

A Wireless 75% Backlit Keyboard

After designing Corneucopia, I decided that I wanted to create a regular keyboard. I have attempted to make many in the past, but I never got around to finishing them. Now that I had experience making a wireless split, I decided to make a wireless regular. This was also a test of making a PCB with just the MCU. Previously, I have made PCBs with the ESP32 SoM, but this was my first chip PCB that didn't use the ESP32.

Arc: common questions

What microcontroller does the Arc use?

The Arc is built around the NRF52840_HOLYIOT_18010, from the Nordic nRF family.

How big is the Arc PCB?

The Arc measures 326.6 × 123.8 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Arc?

415 components, from 40 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Arc design files?

From the DynamicWhiteHat/Arc repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Arc design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with DynamicWhiteHat. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Arc without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug Nordic nRF firmware against it before you order a PCB.
