About the Clementina hardware PCB

Clementina hardware is an open source Raspberry Pi PCB design by fran150, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 172.7 × 108.6 mm, with 42 components from 24 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RaspberryPi_Pico_W, from the Raspberry Pi family. Other key parts include the W65C02SxP, AS6C4008-55PCN, W65C22SxP, AS6C62256-55PCN and 74AC138. By type, the board carries 14 capacitors, 11 resistors, 8 ICs, 5 connectors, 2 diodes and 1 module.

It belongs with the audio designs in this gallery.

From the project

KiCad schematic for Clementina, a 3.3V W65C02S computer with a Raspberry Pi Pico 2 W (MIA) handling video, audio, storage and I/O.

KiCad 9 schematic and board for Clementina, a 3.3 V homebrew computer built around a W65C02S CPU. A Raspberry Pi Pico 2 W, called MIA, runs the machine: it generates the CPU clock, boots the kernel, and provides video, audio, storage and input.

Status: the rev 1 schematic is complete and ERC-clean, and the rev 1 board is laid out, fully routed and DRC-clean. The first build is planned on protoboard, using the same parts as the board.

Clementina hardware: common questions

What microcontroller does the Clementina hardware use?

The Clementina hardware is built around the RaspberryPi_Pico_W, from the Raspberry Pi family.

How big is the Clementina hardware PCB?

The Clementina hardware measures 172.7 × 108.6 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Clementina hardware?

42 components, from 24 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Clementina hardware design files?

From the fran150/clementina-hardware repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Clementina hardware design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which fran150 chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Clementina hardware without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug Raspberry Pi firmware against it before you order a PCB.
