About the Hps04 PCB

Hps04 is an open source PCB design by gzweigle, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 38.1 × 10.2 mm, with 4 components from 3 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the CNY70. By type, the board carries 2 resistors, 1 IC and 1 connector.

It belongs with the audio designs in this gallery.

From the project

Building a hybrid MIDI digital piano

Originally, the HPS PCB was for hammers. However, the sensor also works for dampers. Not changing the name because many circuit boards have already been built.

R2 sets the maximum output voltage. If the output voltage is too large, the analog-to-digital converter will clip. If the output voltage is smaller, it decreases the dynamic range. The piano works with a lower dynamic range but may not work if the signal is clipping. Therefore, if the R2 value in bill of materials is unavailable, choose a smaller value. If the R1 value is unavailable, choose a larger value.

Hps04: common questions

How big is the Hps04 PCB?

The Hps04 measures 38.1 × 10.2 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Hps04?

4 components, from 3 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Hps04 design files?

From the gzweigle/open-hybrid-piano repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Hps04 design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which gzweigle chose for the repository.
