Its main chip is the C2913202, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the LM2596S-5, AMS1117-3.3, CH340C, ADS1115IDGS and BME280. By type, the board carries 22 resistors, 15 capacitors, 12 connectors, 8 transistors, 8 switches and 8 diodes.

It belongs with the iot & wireless, sensors and dev boards & breakouts designs in this gallery.

From the project

Open-hardware ESP32-S3 controller for NFT hydroponics: pH/EC/level sensing, 6 relay channels, ESPHome + Home Assistant

Status: v1.1 boards fabricated and assembled by JLCPCB. Bring-up and on-site testing in progress.

A 4-layer, ESP32-S3 based controller board that turns a manual NFT (Nutrient Film Technique) hydroponic system into a self-regulating one. It reads pH, EC and water level from the main reservoir, switches up to six 12 V pumps (nutrient A, nutrient B, pH adjust, circulation, …) and integrates natively with Home Assistant through ESPHome.

Nft hydroponic controller: common questions

What microcontroller does the Nft hydroponic controller use?

The Nft hydroponic controller is built around the C2913202, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the Nft hydroponic controller PCB?

The Nft hydroponic controller measures 135 × 101.3 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Nft hydroponic controller?

97 components, from 45 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Nft hydroponic controller design files?

From the hasan-abuzaid/nft-hydroponic-controller repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Nft hydroponic controller design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-S-2.0 license, which hasan-abuzaid chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Nft hydroponic controller without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
