From the project

Our first collaborative open-source project, ESP32-S3 Development board based on Xtensa's latest 32-bit LX7 processor.

The board is capable of operating in multiple modes. 1. With Firmware support (Still in making): 1. CAN bus Decoder 2. RS485 Decoder

2. Standalone Hardware support: 1. RS485 to USB converter 2. USB to UART converter

3. Normal Development baord for ESP32-S3 Development.

The supported platforms are listed below

1. Arduino IDE 2. ESP-IDF 3. Zephyr-RTOS

The guide on getting started on each platform is still in making. Stay tuned for further updates.

ESP32-S3 Dev Board: common questions

What microcontroller does the ESP32-S3 Dev Board use?

The ESP32-S3 Dev Board is built around the ESP32-S3FH4R2, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the ESP32-S3 Dev Board?

The ESP32-S3 Dev Board measures 123.5 × 56.5 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6062 mm thick.

How many components are on the ESP32-S3 Dev Board?

146 components, from 64 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the ESP32-S3 Dev Board design files?

From the hw-tinkerers/ESP32-S3_Dev_Board repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the ESP32-S3 Dev Board design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with hw-tinkerers. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the ESP32-S3 Dev Board without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
