From the project
STM32 and SIM808 GPS tracker with a custom PCB design and support for MQTT and AES-128 encryption.
The objective of this project is to deliever a GPS tracking system that can be used to track a vehicule. The system includes a device that periodically sends its position and speed information to a remote server. The data is stored on the server where it can be accessed through a web browser for visualization.
The scope of the project is more focoused on the embedded side. In other words, the developement of the server and visualization platform are not mature. However, this work is mainly concerned with: designing a circuit, manufacturing the PCB, and developing firmware to power it, all…

GPS-Tracker: common questions
What microcontroller does the GPS-Tracker use?
The GPS-Tracker is built around the STM32F030C8Tx, from the STM32 family.
How big is the GPS-Tracker PCB?
The GPS-Tracker measures 35 × 53 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the GPS-Tracker?
53 components, from 39 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the GPS-Tracker design files?
From the ibfarhat/GPS-Tracker repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the GPS-Tracker design in my own project?
The repository has no license, so all rights stay with ibfarhat. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
Can I test firmware for the GPS-Tracker without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
