About the Jfox fmu PCB

Jfox fmu is an open source STM32 PCB design by Jettanakorn, published on GitHub. It is a 6-layer board measuring 100 × 80 mm, with 125 components from 56 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32H753IIT6, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the ICM-42688-P, ICM-45686, BMI088, BMP388 and FM25V02A. By type, the board carries 46 capacitors, 34 resistors, 18 ICs, 8 diodes, 6 transistors and 6 connectors.

The only copy of the PX4FMUv2.4.5 schematic previously in this repo was docs/PX4FMUv2.4.5.pdf — a vector PDF with no extractable text. Every hardware fact taken from it had to be read off rendered page images by eye. That is fine for orientation and bad as a foundation for a new board design.

Jfox fmu: common questions

What microcontroller does the Jfox fmu use?

The Jfox fmu is built around the STM32H753IIT6, from the STM32 family.

How big is the Jfox fmu PCB?

The Jfox fmu measures 100 × 80 mm, has 6 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Jfox fmu?

125 components, from 56 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Jfox fmu design files?

From the Jettanakorn/JFOX-FCU repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Jfox fmu design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with Jettanakorn. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Jfox fmu without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
